Tafsir of Surat al-Fatihah
Class Timings: Wednesdays, 7:00pm (3 Weeks) – 45 Minutes
Start Date: 14th December
This course features an in-depth explanation and Tafsir of Surat al-Fatihah, covering the numerous names of Surat
al-Fatihah, its virtues, benefits and a detailed elaboration on the meaning of its contents. Surat al-Fatihah is referred
to as Umm al-Kitab (the mother of “the book”, in reference to the Qur’an). This is because the Qur’an begins with
this surah and it is the only surah that must be recited more than a dozen times a day by each and every Muslim.
Surat al-Fatihah was the first surah to have been revealed in its entirety. It is also referred to as the surah of shifa’
(healing).
Within a lengthy Hadith, Rasulullah ﷺ mentioned regarding Surat al-Fatihah: “By the One in Whose Hand is my
soul! The like of it has neither been revealed in the Tawrah, nor the Injil, nor the Zabur, nor in the Furqan (Qur’an). It
is the seven oft-repeated [verses] and the Magnificent Qur’an which I was given.” (Jami’ al-Tirmidhi)
