The sahabah (companions of our beloved prophet Muhammad ﷺ (were selected by Allah to benefit directly from the blessed company of Allah’s Messenger ﷺ. They were individuals who imitated every aspect of the blessed behavior and characteristics possessed by Allah’s Messenger ﷺ. Every believer has a duty to educate themselves regarding these illustrious
companions, since it is due to them that the blessed sunnah was conveyed with such great
precision. It is because of them that knowledge of the prophetic sunnah has reached us.
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stood out among these noble prophetic
companions as a particularly blessed individual. He was someone who had been selected by
Allah to have a very intimate bond with Allah’s Messenger ﷺ. This course shall traverse the
amazing life of this blessed and noble companion of Allah’s Messenger ﷺ, who was among
the very first to accept Islam and the person chosen to assume the position of leadership over
the Muslims after the demise of Allah’s Messenger ﷺ.

Teacher Bio: Mufti Bilal al-Mahmudi
Mufti Bilal completed his memorisation of the Qur’an as well as the six year ‘Alimiyyah
programme in the Islamic sciences at Darul Ulum Leicester, UK. He then went on to
further his studies and completed an Ifta/Takhassus fi’ l-Fiqh (specialisation in fiqh and
fatwa) course at Dar al-Ifta al-Mahmudiyyah in Durban, South Africa under renowned
specialists Mufti Ebrahim Desai and Mufti Husain Kadodia.
